“Being careful not to practice Classism or Favoritism.”
Hello everyone! James 2:1-4 (NIV version) reads “My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism. Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?” Powerful Bible scripture right here on why we should not ever practice Classism or Favoritism! It is a sin against God/Jesus and downright disrespectful to others. In society today it is so easy to get caught up in ‘the culture’ and clickes and so on and to look down on other’s without even being aware that we are doing it. Peer pressure and acceptance is a huge thing and we must be aware that we don’t compromise our values just so that we can get acceptance because it may cause us to hurt other’s in the process. This can happen at our jobs, the types of professions we may have, the social clubs that we might be involved in whether they be fraternities or sororities or even our places of worship. We must always listen to the Holy Spirit to avoid falling into Classism or Favoritism and be imitators and followers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to love and treat everyone with respect as He would want us to!
So, with the above mentioned, let’s show Christ-like love and respect to everyone regardless of their social status in life or who they may be. Remember how we would want to be treated. Also let’s make sure that although we may not like Classism or Favoritism ourselves and might have experienced the pain of it, let’s be sure we do not treat others that way as well inflicting the same pain we have felt. Let’s be careful to not become what we resent and dislike. Let’s build bridges and seek to understand other’s whether we agree with them or not. Let’s stop and end Classism and Favoritism and show the love of Jesus Christ! We can and will do this together! Peace ✌️ ☮️ 🕊 and love ❤️!!
